Re: PC shift lenses on SLR/n

Well it may well be the angle of the light hitting the pixels when shifted that makes the color balance off. Only one way to know though eh? I will report when I get my camera in and try it.

Re: PC shift lenses on SLR/n

Steve, I guess in a pinch this would work and I thank you but I am bothered by even having to do this at all and work with an upside down camera.

Re: PC shift lenses on SLR/n

Chris, thanks. How does the knob come off. Do you lift the faux leather circle on top to expose a screw?

Re: PC shift lenses on SLR/n

Chris Shain (above, from Australia) has posted previously on the subject, and both on list and in private emails to me has confirmed he uses the 28mm PC Nikkor with great success on his 14n. The widespread assumptions about PCs not being useable on the 14n seem often to be based on zero personal experience - though of course I respect Rainer's view, so perhaps it's another case of variability between different samples of the camera - ?
I'm getting much closer to acquiring a SLRn myself, as its peculiarities become manageable via software/firmware, and on the day I'll just have the shift knob on my 28PC turned down like Chris advises. Certainly worth trying.
Regards, AH

Re: PC shift lenses on SLR/n

Hi, I use a SCHNEIDER 28mm shift lens on the 14n. The only thing you have to do is:
unsrew the lower handwheel
put it centered on a turning machine
an reduce the diameter - 0,8mm

Then it fits perfekt on the 14n.

Re: PC shift lenses on SLR/n

I have had no problems with the 28 PC on my 14n, using lens optimization #2, and shooting upside down for horizontals. Color is fine across the frame. I use the Newton bracket and mounted on a tripod at 90 degree head tilt, and another 90 on the bracket, it's upside down. Very easy.
