Do I need a softening filter over the flash (550EX) when using for fill. I saw a posting the other day mentioning something about it but couldn't find it when I did a search.
Andy, its certainly not compulsory but I use the "Sto-Fen Omni-bounce" caps over the 550ex units. They seem to do a very good job of just taking the edge off of the flash, although they are only effective up to a certain distance (divide normal range by 2.5) to find maximum range. Very useful little gadgets.
