DCS 520 & battery levels

New to my DCS520 from a DCS3 I am enjoying the TV screen!!!

I recently experienced an image access problem with a Lexar160 having shot and viewed the images (on my new screen) I then couldnt download to my Mac 3400 as the card wasnt recognisable to the computer no icon appeared on the desktop frustrating as I could see the images before my eyes.and my 3400 ahs no firewire...I was later told that shooting with a low battery level may cause the card to corrupt. Is this a "known"problem?

Re: DCS 520 & battery levels

I've not heard of a low battery causing this, but if you eject the card while it is still writing, then you can do all sorts of weird damage to the information on the card. the other possible cause is if you have version 3.09 or later firmware and an older version of the acquire software in the laptop then the images cannot be acquired.

I've had similar and other troubles when shooting with a low battery,
as soon as it starts to blink I change, and if it's blinking and empty I count my blessings

Re: DCS 520 & battery levels

I concur with neil, the battery level on the Ni-cd batteries has never given me any problems in the 2.5 years that I have demonstrated the 520, but saying that I have not experienced EVERY situation as most of you PJ's have. For extra security you should really try our new Ni-MH batteries, they will last at least 2x longer than Ni-cd and upto 3x depending on the LCD usage.

happy shooting
