kodak 520 slot failure

while covering the davis cup in la, i inadvertantly loaded 2 lexars 160's into both slots of my kodak 520's. after shooting an hour i noticed the error and removed the bottom card. that card was unreadable and i didnt have the firewire to connect the camera

since then only the top slot will recognize a card-is there any way to regain the bottom slot?

Re: kodak 520 slot failure

Be sure that you are running the latest version of the camera firmware (currently 3.0.14). Even if you are, try reloading it. If that doesn't work, try reverting to an older version, then reloading the latest version. If none of this works, the camera will likely have to take a vacation in Rochester, NY.

Be sure to try different cards in the bottom slot (different brands, if possible) during this troubleshooting routine.

Good Luck and let us know how it turns out,

Re: kodak 520 slot failure

I'm glad to have read your post because I'm pretty sure that the Lexars are that little bit fatter than other cards and the pressure of two of them in the drive at the same time can damage the tiny rails that the cards run on. I had the same problem after the very first time I inserted two Lexars into my Powerbook, the lower slot didn't work because the rail became damaged and the pins couldn't locate 100% with the card. A simple case of getting the slot eplaced I'm afraid.

neil.
