Help with bent SD card

I have a SD 1.0 GB card; when putting it in the card reader, it bent horizontally about halfway down the card (from the part that does not go into the card reader). Now the card reader or camera will not read it. Is there any way to recover my photos? THanks!

Is the card bent so much that it won't now fully insert? If so, perhaps the data is still intact and you could disassemble the external card reader so as to be able to ensure the card fully seats.

However, if the card is fully inserted and seated and still won't read you may be out of luck as the ic board may have been compromised. (broken, or a solder point loosened, etc.) In either case rescue recovery software wouldn't seem to be of much help.

Perhaps a photo of the card might help.

Thanks for your help. I'm attaching some photos per your suggestion. The card is not stuck in the card reader & when inserted does not go fully in, which is how I bent it. The part that sticks out of the card reader is where it bent. OK, well haven't figured out how to upload photos yet....

If the card is bent, I would imagine that you've almost certainly damaged some of the internal circuitry. You could send the card into a data recovery service, but that going to pricey.

I'd try Drew's suggestion first. Disassemble the card reader so the card can make contact and see if it's still viable. If that doesn't work, then you can try the more expensive option.

Of course, I say this assuming that it's possible to make the contacts available without permanently damaging the card reader. Never having done it before, it's easy to assume anything.
