Re: Beware satellite internet service

The real question is whether you're using the "new AT&T" or the old AT&T.

I called up to find out about an eMail problem I was having yesterday. I used the phone number on the ATT.com web page.

Took them 15 minutes of passing me around and requesting my personal info over and over before they determined I was a customer of "AT&T Worldnet" and not "the new AT&T" and passed me to someone who knew what was going on.

And after all that all they could tell me was "we're having a problem and we don't know when it will be resolved".

To this day as far as I can tell they are billing me twice for one of my phone lines. I say "as far as I can tell" in all seriousness.

A divested AT&T was better.

Re: Beware satellite internet service

Noel you are a visionary. I just got a call from AT&T. I could not understand exactly what the gentleman was saying, but heard "DSL". { I am seriously hearing impaired}. Pressed "1" on phone at urging by this voice if I didn't understand. Got passed around bout five times. lady finally tells me DSL will not be available here after all. They are sending for the modem.

First I got a letter stating DSL was available to me since 12/31/07. Then that my DSL would be active after 6:00 pm on 3/3/08. Then was told "in another five or six days". Then three days later, "seven days". Then the call today saying it would not be available at all.

Absolutely amazing. Unbelieveable! Awsome!! Left hand doesn't even know the right hand exists!!!

Re: Beware satellite internet service

I guess sometimes ya just have to be stubborn and not give up on finding solutions for things. Hughes angered me when they restricted my speed because I used the service too much. At&T flat out misrepresented furnishing me with DSL. It took them three weeks to admit they indeed would not furnish the service, despite me having several letters to the contrary.

Today, when I was in Alltel store to pay my cell bill I thought to ask them if they had wireless service with usb connection. They did, and I brought the little device home to try. It is about twice as fast as Hughes and ten dollars a month cheaper. Not sure about the throttling, but representative said they did not throttle.

I may be crowing before sunrise, but so far I am pleased. I finally can enjoy using the internet again. Got my fingers crossed that this situation will continue.
