Permission for Brides to print their own CDs at Wal-mart, Target, etc.

When a DVD is sold to the bride and groom for the purpose of them taking it to Wal-mart, Walgreens or some other print shop, should a permission slip be given to them by the photographer allowing them to do so. Or if it is stated on the label of the DVD that they may do so, is this the way to go?

Thank you.

Mike H.

Dont want to seem rude, but does anyone at Walmart know the laws or much less care? Most places I have seen make you upload them online or in the store, and then the person with the image can make all the prints they want, even if they have no legal right to them....

In the past, I have put my label on the disk and then put a simple text file stating that I am the photographer and I have given full reprodution rights to holder of the disk. So far there have been no issues.

Hi Kevin:- Both Walmart and Costco here will not copy or print off a cd anything that looks like a pro shot. I was at Costco a while back. The clerk was explaining to the young lady why the prints had proof stamped on them and why Costco would not print them.
Some times it works.

Cheers
Chris

Yes, give them a permission letter. Some chains will enforce copyright rules. Also, at some time in the future they may go to a printshop that serves both pro and amatuer.
