D1 makes teeth appear yellow

Has anyone else noticed that the D1 makes the subject's teeth appear yellow?

The sponge tool in Photoshop is good for getting rid of this and making teeth look better in the final image.

Notice outdoor pictures have green everywhere. Thinking its reflective color green from surrounding trees, bushes and grass.

I have noticed studio shots look this way as well.

The D1 has a very pronounced color shift- I suggest finding the "color fix" action for photoshop - it will yield more accurate color...you will still have to use "Color Balance" in PS to get the best results....the newer cams are much more accurate in this respect- the Kodak DCS series are also very accurate......all my photos get the "fix" applied and some amount of color balance applied--- good luck.

....also for teeth- try using the dodge tool with the opacity toned down- it does wonders on people's teeth- they'll love you.

Re: D1 makes teeth appear yellow

There were some posts around March 26, 2001 on this subject on D1scussion. Juergen posted a couple examples (different subjects) that did in fact look very yellow, and pointed out that the eyes were acceptably white. The photos aren't there any longer but the posts are still available in the forum archive.

There was a follow up post suggesting this might be a UV Flourescence problem (the kind that makes certain bridal dresses glow blue or white undergarments flouresce beneath clothing, and a suggestion to try a " KR1.5 (not an 81A, unless that's
all you can get)." But nothing definitive came out of it that I could find.

You can find the threads if you are registered with D1scussion by searching on "teeth." Good luck with this.

Re: D1 makes teeth appear yellow

All right, let me get this straight before recommending a fix. Hmmm, flouresce white undergarments and yellow teeth. Yep, sounds like a job for Photoshop. But, let me throw a point out to the whole gang. Is messing with other people's undergarments ethical? I'll tell you one thing. Don't ever, ever mess with my flouresce underwear. I like it just the way it is. Green, but not always. What is this Nielson Robgalbraith.com Forum ratings sweeps week? What, the more you mention "undergarments" the higher the ratings? Please don't take this post too serious. Just a bad attempt at humor. On the semi-serious side I do have trouble with color shifts sometimes but it is hard to remember who had yellow teeth and who do did not. I always use one of the dentist teeth shade cards for best results. Food for thought
