Re: Nikon D90 vs Canon

Congrats on your D90 purchase! I'm sure it will give you many hours/years of great service.

Photography people are great, aren't they? I'm serious here.

Nikon vs. Canon is a bit like Chevy vs. Ford or Mac vs. PC. There are people who have invested significantly in each camp, and there are a lot of opinions. One thing's for sure: "Best" simply cannot be defined across the board!

What's great about photo people is that, so unlike those other debates, each camp respects the other and most everyone offers positive useful advice. You will not find a more respectful, helpful group of folks. Bravo to all!

-Noel

Re: Nikon D90 vs Canon

You could have upped the value a little by using "N v C is like Ferrari Enzo's v Mclaren F1's", then at least owners of either would have given their camera a little polish before bedtime

I'm surprised there's so much emphasis on how the Canon images are in reference to other DSLR brands as isn't one of it's advantages that if required it can simulate / enhance / completely reconfigure how the image looks by using Canon's Picture Style editor.

I find it particularly useful with unusual styles such as colour pushing, being able just use one colour hue etc to be able to view the style live via the liveview mode.

Re: Nikon D90 vs Canon

LOL... thanks John! I'll have to remember the Enzo vs F1 comparison.

Regarding Canon's Picture Style Editor, you can do the same thing on the Nikons. Nikon just calls them by different names.

Re: Nikon D90 vs Canon

Good morning Matt (or afternoon, evening...... night)

I had no idea, I'd searched, asked a D300 owner and the best he could come up with was it allows him to change curves!

The main let down of the Canon picture styles is that you can only store 3 and you can't read the styles from the flash card. I suspect this is possibly due to how Canon see it being used just for slight tweaks rather than a liveview creative tool.
