CoolPix P6000 RAW files

If anyone has experience converting P6000 RAW files .NRW in CaptureNX2 I would appreciate the feedback. I am considering this camera as a compact/pocket camera for a travel assignment in which I WILL be bringing the D3/D700 package but need a pocket camera for places where the pro gear is not allowed. I don't want to discuss the merits or shortcomings of this or other compact cameras just the real world results of converting RAW images from this particular sensor.

I'm interested in the image quality at ISOs between 200-800 and how NX2 deals with the noise from this sensor.

BTW, and not to hijack my own post but, I just started using the GP-1 GPS receiver on my D3/D700 kit and it's great! The only problem is it's ALWAYS on the wrong body, gonna have to get a second unit!

Back in Chicago after a long assignment in Costa Rica and the P6000 was great. The ONLY reason I bought this camera was for it's RAW capability, the GPS function was nice, but I already had the GPS receivers for my other cameras. This was the camera around my neck when the PRO gear was not appropriate, allowed or already packed and stacked in the plane, bus or boat. The RAW files convert well, right along side the files from the D3 and D700. There are files from the P6000 printing right along side the files from the D700 and D3.

What I have found recently is the value of the GPS. I am using this camera when traveling and scouting locations. I download the images and view them in PhotoMechanic. The "show map" function draws a beautiful map of the exact location the image was created. I can send this map to assistants and other production crew and everyone gets to the job site without difficulty. This added functionality has made the P6000 an invaluable part of my bag.

Thought I would share my "happy accident."

By any chance did you look at the Canon G10 I understand there are a few pro shooters using this one. I am a Nikon person myself

The reason I needed this camera was to shoot Nikon RAW .NRW files in places that I couldn't or wouldn't be permitted to take professional gear. I did look at the Canon G10 and it is an excellent camera, however, I have a workflow with Nikon that produces the images that I need to run my business. I must say, the P6000 performs well in this mode.
