Strobe Trigger

I shoot with Nikon and I want to be able to control other strobes (White Lightning) like I do the SB-800's IE. adjust the brightness up or down.

I know White Lightning is coming out with a product that will do that with their strobes . . . . what I would like is one that will do both Nikon and White Lightning.

Anything like this exist. It seems like Radio Poppers comes close but once again no interface with White Lightning.

Thanks

Re: Strobe Trigger

Quantum offers wireless eTTL if you use their strobes but I don't know of any 'generic' set up. The issue is 99% of strobes have no way to electronically adjust their output - you slide a slider or turn a knob with your fingers.

When R2D2 or C2PO comes into existence we'll not have any more problems like this.

I'd like an R2 type thing - self propelled, telescoping light stand, self packing and transporting, self metering and all computer controlled. It's feasible - but it's not gonna be cheap!

As I look into it, ieems to be a proprietary thing . . . for now I guess I must pick a system and stick with the limitations . . .

Re: Strobe Trigger

I use WL a lot and have the older wired controller. Works great, but wires can be a problem whereas the AC wire is not as bad. Sounds strange, but true.

I'll be getting the new wireless when it's available. I do mix WL & Nikons sometimes (recently on hockey, see other thread). In those cases if you can't get to the WL to adjust, it's not a huge deal to adjust both the Nikon flash and the aperature. It's the same thing as adjusting the WL.

As far as controlling everything - you're right, that's going to be a future model. If they can do control hundreds of brands of TVs on generic TV remotes, why not on flash remotes??? Same principal.

Re: Strobe Trigger

It looks like radio poppers will have a product soon that will trigger both the Nikon and White Lighting strobes. Sweet.
Here is a link to their product.
