D300 or D700, and which lens?

Wow, if I only had an Xpan. On a related not, a friend wanted to loan me his Fuji 617. Now that would be interesting

Keep the gear in the stateroom, then if you need it, you can pop back and grab it. I store all sorts of stuff in my car trunk. As long as it's close at hand, that's good enough.

Roller cases are great things for traveling through airports. Thinktank products are the ticket at the moment, and I've seen guys cram both a 300 and 400 mm lens into one, so you should have lots of room for you gear and some books and magazines.

My problem now is that I have chosen to go entirely with the D700. So I am getting rid of my 10.5mm and Sigma 30mm f/1.4 (possibly my 20mm f/1.8 as well) for FX lenses. It is frustrating because it took forever to find my perfect kit.

Yes, I hear ya! I really like the 24-70 on the d300 for headshots, but it isn't quite long enough on the D700. Maybe a 105mm F2 or 105 Micro-Nikkor?
David- I'm looking at the Think Tank Airstream and also the Lowe Pro Mini Roller. The Lowe Pro is quite a bit cheaper, and does have a "leg" that allows you to set the bag up to work out of it. Hmmmm... But, the Think Tank has all the locks and other features...Which one...

I'm also thinking that I'll take the 14-24, 24-70 and maybe get a loaner 180mm from NPS.
