Re: My first impressions: D3

Terry the idea is to take someone who earns a living and keep them in business. If you are camera-less for a week you don't lose your primary job or earning potential, I might. OK I have more than ONE body but in the case of long glass I don't have 3 300's on the shelf, NPS is meant to keep working pros working.

My buddy's 1DmkIIn has been to CPS 3 times for focus issues. The last time around he sent a 70-200 that was working flawlessly on the other three bodies but clearly out of whack on the MK2. He clearly indicated that the lens had no flaw and that is was being sent to help eval the body. You know where this is going...... they cleaned and speced the lens even though it wasn't requested and nailed him 2 bills along the way. Oh the kicker??? They sent the lens and body in different packages via Fed Ex !!!

You are right there is little in the way of proving it (your f/t status). Thus the need to have an established member vouch and sign the app.

The question cuts both ways...... Why should I loose an assignment so that a dentist who had the $$ to buy more gear than me get to pull a piece of gear to shoot his niece's soccer tournament ?

CPS has differing levels of membership. There are memberships for studio shooters, government employees, news/editorial, etc. CPS wants copies of past credentials, company letterhead, letters from customers/credit accounts etc.

This is getting to be too much of a N/C thing again so I'm done.......

Enjoy the new camera, I'm sure that you will love it!
