Trying to find a new D3?

Please PM me - I can point you towards a place with at least a dozen in stock! (And the price will surprise you, too...)

Why so secretive Terry? Why not just post the source as is often done on a variety of other forums? Do you receive a commission, or are associated with the sale in some way? If not why do you need confidentiality of a PM? Arouses the suspicious nature in me!

Re: Trying to find a new D3?

There is no commission, or anything in it for me, other than (perhaps) some kudos from the owner of the shop. I don't believe he would have a problem with me spreading the word, but on the other hand, I didn't ask his opinion on the subject, and there is the issue of MAP.

The sale price is below that of B&H, and I suspect it may be below Nikon's MAP (minimum advertised price) for the body, in which case he may NOT advertise it - possibly not even through a third party. This is another reason I'm not sure he'd be happy about me posting the information in public view - I'm not sure whether this would qualify as a form of "advertising"). See?

Does this ease your suspicious mind? (Frankly, you don't have to trust me...but really - how careful does one need to be? If you want to know the name of the dealer, PM me and then give him a call and see for yourself.)

Re: Trying to find a new D3?

I'm still shaking my head over your post, Richard, so I had to revisit this...

Let's say - just for the sake of argument - that I WAS getting a commission on each D3 customer I referred. (Again, that's not the case, but this is a hypothectical.) And let's say that as a result of my post you bought one, and for a couple hundred bucks lower than you could have gotten it from the big mail-order store. What would you care if I got a commission? Would that make it any less of a good deal for you?

But relax; there's nothing in it for me. I'm just trying to be helpful to my fellow photographers. (That'll teach me to try and do a good thing every now and then!)

Re: Trying to find a new D3?

Terry, I for one appreciate what you were trying to do. Photographers are up against the wall trying to make a living with all the people currently getting involved past the "snapper" level. I spend more money on photograpy equipment than I do on food. I'm not in the market for a D3, but if I was, I would certainly give you pm.

Thank you,
Ron

Re: Trying to find a new D3?

Terry,

Nikon's MAP is an agreement between the DEALER and NIKON. It has no bearing on you. IF you purchase a D3 for $2500 and that is what the dealer is charging, you are free to proclaim it to the world.

Not saying that you have to, just dispelling any fears you may have.

Re: Trying to find a new D3?

Note: Please do not confuse EricC's mention of "$2500" with the actual price. Eric was exaggerating to illustrate a point.
