D1x Underexposed Images

After shooting Canon for the last 10 years I have switched to Nikon. I have put about 2000 frames thru my D1x in the last 2 weeks and find that when shooting with the SB-28dx set in TTL Matrix in Program mode, most of my images need to be significantly brightened in PS 6. I have tried boosting my strobe setting +.3 stops. It helped a little but still images are dark. Is there a CF setting? What can be done to yeild an image that requires minor tweaking. My D30 had 40000 images without any of these type symptoms.

Re: D1x Underexposed Images

I haven't noticed that. In fact, I rarely need to tweak the exposure (using Bibble) with the D1x as compared to the D1. Even fill flash is nicely exposed except for circumstances when the background is expansive and/or dark and the camera limits the flash output to avoid blowing out the foreground subject.

What type of flash unit and lenses are you using? How do the histograms look? The other issue could be monitor calibration and gamma adjustment. What software are you using to process the images?

I have been very impressed with the D1x- hopefully your problem is easily solved.

Jim

Re: D1x Underexposed Images

It could be monitor calibration and gamma adjustment if you previously calibrated for the D30.

Just a thought.
