Re: D200 "Dropping Lenses"?

I had a lens, same as you use -- 17-55 suddenly be loose this past weekend at a shoot, and I just supposed that I had hit the release, although I did not recall my fingers being any where near it... Perhaps it is related to my other posts about the seemingly loose lens mount for the 200 and this and other similar lenses that I and others are experiencing.

Re: D200 "Dropping Lenses"?

Just had it happen about 1 week ago with my 70-200vr, mounted it and was trying to get the foot in the tripod and wiggled it next thing I know my lens hit the floor( off course it was a concrete floor no carpet in that church, Im not sure how it happend Ive been switching len's for over 20 years and never a drop, Altho in Oct I dropped my D2hs with this same lens
when carrying it by the tripod mount I didnt realize there was a quick lock button I depressed and dropped both of them, camera took the brunt and cost $200 to fix, this one is on its way to Nikon for estimate, it smashed the mount & some of the electrical contacts no glass that I could see

Re: D200 "Dropping Lenses"?

I have received no helpful feedback from any source on this: Just the helpful knowledge that it is not I, alone, who is crazy...I theorize that the lens release button is in a place wherein use of the zoom may cause accidental actuation of the release...The other day I had my new D3 out, and suddenly it would not focus...The reading on the top panel showed -f6...Finally, after turning it off, manually focusing, removing and replacing the battery, I reset the lens in its mounting (28-70 f2.8), and everything worked fine...I suspect that it this that is the problem. By the way, is some support of this, I have not heard of anyone using a prime that this happened to...wcook
