Re: Problems with lens mount on D200? follow up

As a note to the several others who have had the same recurring problem, I should mention that my primary lenses that I was using on the 200s were 28 - 70/2.8, which are fairly heavy...I have since switched to 17-55/2.8s, also heavy, but perhaps a LITTLE lighter, and the problem seems to occur less frequently...I note that some with this problem have been using heavy lenses, such as the 70-200/2.8, and this may be the root of the problem, that there is a design flaw in the mount or its support.
Glad I am not alone, but what a pain that this old part of the technology -- removable lenses, is causing this much problem.

Re: Problems with lens mount on D200?

I had this problem but discovered the answer. For me, it was the vertical grip (the MB-D200) that lost connection. If I let it get a little loose, it would loose it's connection and the camera went totally dead. It didn't take much, so now, I really tighten the wheel regularly during every shoot. A worse problem occurred on 3 occasions where the connection just barely loosened and instead of the camera dying, it simply ignored making an exposure. If you had this accessory attached, maybe that was the problem.
