The addendum manual (crumpled wad of paper in the bottom of the box) for the SB-28DX states that the flash does indeed fire preflashes in TTL mode, rear curtain sync or not.

Addendum manual? I didn't get no stinkin addendum manual. Thank's for the info. I'll look for a PDF on the Nikon.com [img]images/icons/shocked.gif[/img]

Just got a SB-28DX, put it on a D1x and noted that in TTL modes when rear shutter sync is selected the pre-flash fires. This is contrary to the user guide but means you get the full benefit of TTL yes?

Same problem. No addendum manual in .pdf on the site. Trust me, been there done that.

Wait till you get the service request back.

They will ship you the manual.

Then several paragraphs from the lawyers, explaining that this is "priveledged" information. Don't want anyone to know that we shipped a bunch of speed lights without the manual.

When I sent them my snail mail address, I also took a few moments to explain what I thought of that.

I am on my third Nikon digital. They have finally managed to piss me off. But in defense of all the good tech people at Nikon, it took the combined effort of marketing and legal to do it.
