Re: Sensor cleaners?

Visible dust, no doubts about it. Used Sensor swabs/Eclipse for a couple of years - almost always had to use two or three swabs before getting it right. Considering the price of those consumables, rather expensive! However, there are times and specks that Visible Dust won't remove, then Sensor swabs/Eclipse comes out of the drawers!

Re: Sensor cleaners?

I love VISIBLE DUST ever since they came out. But Sensor Swab & Eclipse is irreplaceable for stubborn dirt

Re: Sensor cleaners?

As a new member, I read with interest the cleaning method using A cotton T Shirt.

I have been involved with Fiber Optic & Lens system for 30 years measuring down to single digit microns, using anything other then a contaminated free swab is asking for trouble. In time Dust particles even down to 10 microns can and will most likely scratch the surface.

Not having had the need to clean my Sensor yet, Visible Swab is the clear winner.

Regards

Gerald

Re: Sensor cleaners?

Curt,

I got my Dust Aid kit some time ago, and unfortunately had a bad enough experience I am reluctant to try it again. Some of the "dust" that was on my sensor was sticky (greasy) and all that Dust Aid did was pick it up and stamp it all over the sensor. So I had to take the camera in for a professional cleaning. The repair shop also cleaned the entire shutter/mirror box, suspected of being the source of the greasy particles. That must have worked since all the dust I have had since then has been easily removed with compressed air. My take on it is this: if a compressed air cleaning works, there is no need to use Dust Aid, and, if it doesn't, using Dust Aid is a bad idea.
