Nikon SD-8A with pocket wizard

I would like to use both my SD-8A (with sb800's) and my pocket wizards. (I prefer this to Nikon's wireless triggering which is not as dependable) The problem is that the SD-8A has a cord that plugs into the same pc hole that the pocket wizards plug into. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks.

Re: Nikon SD-8A with pocket wizard

There used to be little multi-pc adaptors sold for a few bucks in camera stores to run 3 flashes out of the same socket.

I used the SB24/SD-8 combo on my Hasselblad for years and run a regular sync cable into the flash and it seemed to work fine. I haven't tried bypassing the SD-8a cable from the SB-800, but would expect it to work just fine. You may want to call Nikon Tech and ask if there is a problem with that sync isn't plugged in and see if they have an answer if anything adverse would occure to either unit...

Re: Nikon SD-8A with pocket wizard

The pc connection from the battery pack just does something like confirm the flash. It's not necessary to make the SB-800 work with the batteries. I simply don't plug that cord in when I'm using Wizards.

I seem to remember reading somewhere (how's that for a useful citation ?) that the SD-8A to SB cord was needed for some kind of wake up function and that you might see odd anomalies in the functioning of the flash without it.
