Bibble for Nikon captures??

Hey,
I was wondering if anyone is using Bibble for tethered captures with their Nikon's? I tried it the other day at home as a test and it seems a bit clumsy or quirky. Could be I have a slow machine, but could also be other problems with the software. Anyone tried it out and what was your experience with it? The UI seems a bit geared toward the amateur market after a brief discussion with their tech dept.

Re: Bibble for Nikon captures??

I use it as my default RAW Converter after trying all of them. I currently shoot with the Kodak SLRn, D70 as a backup and a D200 some times. The UI is a little dated, but you have all the controls you could asked for right at you fingertips. Contrast that against Lightroom where you have to memorize all the keyboard shortcuts to really make it useful. Interestingly enough, they were kind enough to steel most of there ideas and incorporate them in LR and they called them the same names that Bibble did. Please note that there are NO auto function in Bibble. You have to set the default values yourself. That's good and bad depending on how you view RAW file conversions. They are working on a new version which I'm sure will have a better updated UI that will satisfy the GUI guys who think it looks amateurish.

There are some issues with the program. Printing from it is not very good and the tethering doesn't work as advertised depending on the camera. Other than that, it's a true production tool and it's fast. Don't let the UI fool you. I felt the same way when I first used it. I had PD, ACR and LR and everytime I went with Bibble maybe because it handled my Kodak files the best and I had all the tools I needed so I would have to go to PS. The Noise Ninja is very good too.The D70 and D200 worked well too when I needed it. The program I thing is tuned really for Nikon and Canon users for RAW conversions.

Hope this helps.

Paul

Re: Bibble for Nikon captures??

Thanks Paul! I am really interested in using it for tethering purposes with the D200 or D2X. I don't know if the slow 400 mhz machine that I am on had anything to do with the bad experience, but something tells me it is. I will give it a whirl again, on a better machine. Thanks! Can't wait for the update interface. I hate the look of this thing. Looks like a toy to me. Yes! I'm one of those guys. LOL!

Note: What is PD?
