Nikon Capture for tethered shooting?

How good is it and what are the draw backs to it? I love C1 Pro for this style of shooting, but I will be shooting with a D2X come this weekend and can't use C1, with it. Any thoughts on the product and how effective it is and is there anything that I should look out for. Also, learning curve for NC 4x.

What you want is Nikon Capure Control, and it's dead easy to use. You can also control the camera from the computer, which is very useful. What I do is import the camera files into a folder on my desktop that's open in Photo Mechanic, and then use that to view the images. You can set Capture to do nothing once the images are imported, and that way it won't open the Nikon viewer, which sucks big time.

Can I use Bridge to view the images, instead, as they are imported and will they show up automatically as images are being captured in Bridge? Also, what is the difference here with Capture, Control & View? What is their individual unique feature? Also, I am assuming that Nikon camera's do not work with a fire wire cord, but instead work with a USB. Any recommendations on Cords?

Hey Dave,
I've installed the Nikon Capture and Nikon Controller into the laptop, but seems that although, I have pointed other browsers to the folder, Nikon Capture Editor, keeps coming to the foreground and opening up despite my hiding it or quitting it. I figured out a way to stop the non-sense with NCE. I just took it out of the application folder and also, removed the Pref for it and placed them both in a folder. Seems to work. Also, on another note, I found that with the new Mac with Intel Chip, Adobe's bridge, at least on this laptop (rented), does not recognize the Nef files and only shows them as icon's with no preview of the Nef file in Bridge. If I use Bridge to preview the files, I will have to shoot Raw+Jpeg, and preview only the Jpeg's in Bridge. Then I can sort by file type (kind). I want to use Capture One to view my images as they are shot, but noticed that although I am pointing it to the download folder (capture folder), it does not refresh with each new image being shot or imported into the capture folder. Does PhotoMechanic or Bibble refresh its self with every new image and show the last image shot automatically? TIA!

Hey Dave,
Thanks Dave's for all the great info. We did the shoot today and it went off without a hitch or hickup. Just went absolutely smooth. I used Nikon Capture Control. I deactivated NCE, and that did the trick. I used C1 Pro for viewing and processing and that worked great too. Big thanks!
