Capture NX Review At Digital Outback Photo

Number 29 in Uwe Steinmueller's series "The Art of Raw Conversion" is a look at
control points in Capture NX. I must say it seems to offer some very exciting possibilities.

Especially in light of another review in the UK publication Amateur Photographer which reports that Capture NX is much faster than the current Capture on G4 Macs.

Capture 4 is so slow "much faster" is a relative term.

True enough, but one can hope . . .

And the report reflects change in the right direction

Re: Capture NX Review At Digital Outback Photo

I recently purchased a mac book pro and I am having problems running capture.
Is the new nikon nx going to be more compatible with the intel macs? I would think so,
Dave

According to the recent article on the Rob Galbraith site <http://www.robgalbraith.com/bins/con...d=7-7895-8435>, NC-4 won't work and NX isn't going binary yet, but who knows what the future will bring...

Re: Capture NX Review At Digital Outback Photo

Capture NX to me appears to be a very creative tool for working on one image at a time.

It seems way too slow to do any batch conversions. I was so hoping that this would be the replacement to Photodesk as we are now shooting Nikons, but we're still going with Adobe RAW until we find something better.

Re: Capture NX Review At Digital Outback Photo

I did a few conversions with it this afternoon, and it seems to work pretty well. Definately a lot faster than the old Nikon Capture. It's not going to work that well for what I do, processing 200 - 300 images at a time. Programs that use 'sidecar' files to store adjustments for an eventual batch conversion (like Aperture, Lightroom, and C1) seem to be the industry leaders, and I was hoping to see something like that on Nikon NX.
