PowerBook G4 not seeing CF cards in D2X

Using a D2X with Lexar (1 & 4GB) cards and linking to my Power G5 (OS 10.4.1) via USB is no problem downloading images. The icon pops up and Nikon View starts etc. However, the same doesn't happen on my PowerBook G4 running OS10.3.9 with latest Nikon View 6.2.6 when manually trying to start Nikon Transfer with the D2X again connected via USB cable - the error message "There is no memory card in the connected camera or the card reader" appears. This doesn't seem to be a camera error as linking it with Capture would allow me to shoot as normal - it seems to be something with the CF card. I had to use the PCMIA slot adpater last week to just "drag and drop" the NEF images onto the PowerBook last week, but this takes forever with 4GB of data. I've tried various cards and set ups - but nada; strange because it all worked with my previous D2H. Any ideas out there in Nikon user world? Your tips would be appreciated.

You may want to try Lexar's firewire CF card reader? I've read about problems with Lexar's CF cards in other card readers in these forums. I think using Lexar's will be successful - it's more pricey, but very fast.

I can read Lexar WA 512 MB cards in a LaCie Universal Memory Card Reader (USB).

When I insert the Lexar Card in the Reader, Nikon View opens up and voilà! That's on a PowerBook G4 12 inch.

I had the same problem as you 2 months ago... What happened since then? I updated the OS to 10.4.2. I think this update corrects a few third party incompatibilities... Try it. [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

Thank you very much for the feedback - I'll give the Lexar firewire reader a try before going down the OSX10.4 route. Appreciate your answers.
