D100 changing modes

My D100 body is switching itself from Manual mode to Arpeture Priority mode while I am shooting. The camera is tripod mounted and tripped by Nikon's remote release cable, so I am not physically nudging the wheel on the camera. Since I'm shooting with strobes and have the manual settings just so, it is irritating to see the blown exposures later. This is not happening every time... It is randomly changing... on occasion. Today, it has not done this at all over the last 30 or 35 exposure tests.

Anyone have an idea what this might be before I send it to Nikon to fix?

Re: D100 changing modes

Apparently the mode selector switch on the D100 is prone to malfunction; I've read about your problem in other forums. The solution is to have Nikon fix it, and I *think* the prices I've seen is somewhere around US$235 or so, but do check with Nikon. Good luck.

Re: D100 changing modes

Thanks Martin... I had wondered if this were a D100 thing. Haven't seen comments on this before. And yes, the price is always about $225 on Nikon stuff... unless it's more!

Guess I'll send 'er in.
