Post D2H Failure Trauma

I've just joined the long list of D2H owners whose meters suddenly failed. I sent my D2H to Melville today, hoping that with all the practice they've had, Nikon will fix it quickly, without my missing too much use during the football season.

I'm now interested in hearing from others who have gone through this repair as to how well their D2H's have held up since, and for how long. Any repeat offenders, or are things apparently fixed for good by this process?

Mine went to Melville in May. It's been fine since I got it back. FYI: Melville service was great, and fast.

Re: Post D2H Failure Trauma

Mine was at the Torrence shop for about a month, so I bought a D2x in my desperation. My D2h came back fixed and the repair was free even though ot was out of warranty, and it has worked fine ever since as a backup camera. I barely ever use it now because I have the D2x, so I have no idea if it's going to keel over again.

Re: Post D2H Failure Trauma

I haven't really had time to see how well mine will hold up since the repair, but the service was very quick at Melville and it seems to be working well. The only thing I have noticed is that it does not seem perfectly calibrated since I have gotten it back. It now shoots about 1/3 under, but it is consistant, so I just dialed in exposure compensation and it does fine. I probably should send it back, but I just don't want to be without it again for the time it takes to service it.

Mine was fixed at the end of June, so I don't know yet how long it will last, but it operates better than ever before. I'm pleased so far and the whole repair including shipping took about 10 days.
(fixed under warranty- 364 days old and about 7,400 shots)I hope it will last a long time.

Re: Post D2H Failure Trauma

Had the meter problem after approx 50.000 shots. Now, after a few weeks and some more thousand shots the camera suddenly died completely (out of warranty). I gave it to local Nikon service two days before ...
