Re: The best CF card to use with a D2X?

Just got back in town from shooting a wedding out east, and used the SanDisk Ultra 4gig card the whole time and it worked perfect. Shot a total of 847 shots and the card didn't miss a beat...

Re: The best CF card to use with a D2X?

Thanks, I'm getting close to ordering a D2x, especially now that Kodak appears done. I'm wanting to shoot RAW+jpg so I was hoping for the second slot, I guess larger cards will need to be ordered as well. I'm using Lexar 1 gigs. On my D70, I get about 1000 large jpgs per battery, how many shots per battery with the D2x, or size card?

Re: The best CF card to use with a D2X?

I have been using a 4GB micro-drive which is not really super fast in terms of image replay, but it is still compltetely acceptable.

Actually, my point of view is that there are probably many applications for which the slowest possible card will still be fast enough. substantial savings can be made here... the price of an Epson P2000 for instance... :-)

Regards,
Bernard

Re: The best CF card to use with a D2X?

I have 8 Lexar 80x cards and they have worked perfect for the last 15000 shots. The D2x will shoot thousands upon thousands if images on one battery. Best I have done and this was in Compressed RAW was about 3000 images. And I changed the battery because it was getting low and I didnt want to take a chance of it running out on me. No telling how long it might have lasted.

Love that D2x.....

Troy

Thanks Troy, Bernard and everyone else. Great info.
Troy, thats amazing about the battery, I'm getting a D2X tomorrow and was going to get 2 backup batteries, but it sounds like I don't need any.

Take care,

Mark

Re: The best CF card to use with a D2X?

I have shot over 1600 images with one single charge. And that's with heavy preview and VR on most of the time during a concert. With 70-200 & VR on, I see noticeable faster drain on the battery. I have one backup battery (original Nikon). It's more expensive than 3rd party's but I don't spend so much money on the body and then go cheap on the batteries just to save a few $.

I've used Ultra II 2GB with good results. I am planning to get another one because Ultra II represents great value for money (over Extreme III & Lexar 80x Pro).

Hi,

Could anyone tell me if they've had problems with the 2GB 80x Lexar CF cards with the D2X.
What CF cards are you using, I like Sandisk Extreme 3.

Which one is best, if there is such a thing?

Thank you.

Mark

For speed then it has to be the Extreme III as they support CF V2 i can assure you that they are far quicker on the D2hs and D2x than any other card, they read a little bit quicker as well, but they write much faster.
