D100 & 2.2gig Microdrives

I have a 1 gig and a 2.2 gig Microdrive. The 1 gig is always error free and works flawlessly, but the 2.2 gig often gives me a "cannot read card" error after several shots have been taken. I have formatted the card in camera and in my card reader connected to my PC, used FAT16 and FAT32 with the same result. Anyone have a solution?

I believe the 2.2Gb is made by Magicstor in China. I understand it is a flaky product only used now by MP3 player makers for the low price and slow speed.

Get Hitachi

MagicStore is not reliable enough for critical applications IMHO. There are excellent sales and rebates on Hitachi.

Have you tried your 2.2gig microdrive in another D100 and in other brands of cameras?

It might be your card. Cards do become eratic and die...even CF cards.

Re: D100 & 2.2gig Microdrives

I have not tried my microdrive in other cameras. The 1 gig is made by Hitachi, the 2.2 gig is MagicStor. This could explain the problem! I'll keep working on it.
