I put a web gallery with some
pics of my blimps. The black one a has filter and lens hood on the front, and the grey one is open at the end. The black one is for close up work with lenses ranging from 20mm to 85mm, and the open fronted one is for use with the 80-200 lens at longer distances. A camera opperator and I came up with the theory (debatable to be sure) that most of the camera noise probably transmits through the front of the lens, so you if you're going to be at close range, you want to have the front filter.
I wish I could take credit for this set up, but it's a pretty common item on Vancouver film sets.
The Pelican cases were about $40.00 each, the pipe for the lens extension came from the scraps bin at a lumber yard, and I can't remember what, if anything, they charged me for it. The front filter is huge, and it along with the large lens hood, cost about $50.00 at a used camera shop.
I haven't used these with the my new digital cameras, as it's been a few years since I've done any film set work. I don't think it would be a big problem to cut a new port in the back to see the LCD.
Good luck
