What is UP with the color & D2H - Help!

With all the resident experts here I'm hoping someone can help. Please look at these 2 photos and tell me I'm seeing things or explain just what it is I am seeing. These were taken with the d2h - sb-800 (2), one in back and one in front, and 17-55 DX lens. All tone, hue and sharpening were turned off in camera. I'm kinda worried about this. Good thing I'm outputting to b&w. Thanks for all advice and opinions. In the one on the left the skin on his forehead appears magenta up to the hairline and then changes color. In the photo on the right there appears to be a white blotch on left side shoulder (his right). What is this stuff?

Looks like you used Auto WB and the camera set the WB to Shade. You could either force the camera to flash WB or force it to Sunny since that's what the flashes fire anyway. (I like sunny myself.)

Follow the shadow under his neck. Looks like the light hitting his shoulder.

Hard to tell. Might be IR. Or it could simply be a brighter spot of light reflecting onto the material. If it's IR, you'll need a Hot Mirror filter or equivalent to get rid of it in the future. Or you'll have to do a bit of cloning in those images.

That's definitely a light leak of some sort. The reason the edge looks funky is because you buried the blacks and caused them to clip. I'm guessing you're shooting with tone comp set to either "normal" or "auto". Try shooting with tone comp set to "less" to give you a little leeway at the bottom.

Re: What is UP with the color & D2H - Help!

I cant see anything wrong with these photos.

The white splodge is a light reflection. it is clearly grey with some detail as it has more light on a dark fabric.

Regarding the pink line at the hairline. This is also a light effect. This is why in TV they always use makeup to flatten out the light/dark areas so it doesn't look like peorson has a mask or a wig on. ;-)

Sorry, I cant find anything that is wrong with the D2H.
