Be very careful who you buy from

Immediately call your credit card company and decline the charge. You've got up to a year from the purchase date... maybe more if you call the fraud department at the your credit card company.

Sounds as if you've got legal action going against the online reseller - understand you can't discuss who and all that. But I'd love to know how the conversation went when you called them. Did they say, "too bad?" Did they offer to send you another D1X?

That's incredible! How would you ever know if the camera you got from a retailer was stolen? Let us all know how this turns out, and good luck to you.

Thx for the useful info Dan. Seeing how I bought it in June I'll call my credit card people. Nikon pretty much said too bad although they were happy to see my reciept so they can go after the frauds. My homeowners is a bit more sympathatic and I think they're going to pay although I have a deductable. I'm almost in tears. I may have to buy a D100 depending on how things go. Not sure I should say any more for now.

So you are saying that Nikon said "Tough Luck" but give us proof that this person is selling stolen goods so that we can go after them??? That is rediculous.
Do you remember/can you check now to see if this reseller says they are Nikon Authorized?

I see nothing on their website that says whether or not they are authorized. On the other hand I didn't ask Nikon if they'd sell me a camera at a discount. I am waiting to see what my home owners policy does. In the mean time I have called my Credit Card company and have disputed the charges. My lawyer has advised me to contact the seller (which I'm leary to do) and tell them they are selling/sold stolen goods. I just finished talking to my lawyer and have'nt had a chance to do so yet. I will call Nikon on Monday and talk this over in more depth letting them know what's going on on my end. Maybe they will do something yet. I know one thing for sure. I hope to heck someone goes to jail over this and maybe even close this place down. Going to do my best to see/help it happen. In a earlier post I had said frauds when I should have said theievs.

Nikon should not sell you a camera at a discount...you should either get your money back from your credit card company or from the penalties that Nikon receives for the theft.....
If this camera was stolen from Nikon, and they have taken it from you, they must have filed a police report on the theft..and have been paid back by their insurance company....

Something that just occured to me is why did'nt Nikon contact me when I registured this camera back in June. Wonder what good it does to registure camera, lens' etc if they don't catch these things. I appoligize for so many post. I'm just really upset and am venting. Going to ask Nikon if I can buy my (their) D1x back. Maybe they'll let me. Sure they can't sell it.
