Re: What color calibration are you using?

You are correct. I don't own the camera which to me seems logical if the problems I noted are not resolved. I'm just going by what I see on the web. Right now I would love some concrete answers from clear headed people. I'm running out of time before I need one for the job.

Re: What color calibration are you using?

Dennis,

Why not rent one and test it (I think Calumet has stated to rent them) or stop by a friendly camera shop and fire off a couple dozen shots and compare with your current gear?

Again, "everything's good if you like it!"

Glad it is working out for you!!

Probably the worst thing he can do (and no offense intended.)

If you remember, a lot of the poor D2h's bad press began because (#1) Nikon (refused / neglected) to post (good) pre-sales samples, and (big) #2 folks started going to camera stores, and shooting off god-awful high-ISO junk shots in badly lighted stores.

This (#2) produced many of the really junky shots on the web that started all the bad publicity on this camera from the beginning.

Renting one, and using it for a week or so (or even a few days) would be his bet bet (IMO,) where he can at least get some of (his) real-world type photos and explore the thing.

This is not a camera that pop's off "no-brainer" files out of the camera.

Re: What color calibration are you using?

Sal,

I emailed you a file...tough lighting, ISO 1000...I think its better than a D1x could produce. I've shot here many times, it a very difficult ice area.

Re: What color calibration are you using?

I'll need to rent one and take it to the river for a week or two which on my budget is too expensive. Even so, if you compare photo's on the web between various brands or other Nikon models I still wince when looking at a D2H shot...er...that's my job, taking photo's with good color with a minimum of post processing and in a hurry with a large volume of images...like the stuff I get with the D1H. I've been doing this kind of photography with Nikons for a long time. I want a bigger imager and quality just like everyone else who moved up to the D2H.

Re: What color calibration are you using?

Skin tones are excellent on my D2H. Even better than on
my D1X. Here's a sample I took a few days ago with
my 70-200VR. I don't need better skin tones than this.
