Jim, et al,
I had a look at the NEF file of the old fellow at the table, and it seems (to me at least) that there are two colour shifts going on. The red/magenta shift that's common to the D2H, and can be fixed by toning down the Red chanel in the Hue/Saturation control. There definately is a yellow cast under the guys eyes and on the front of his face. I worked the NEF for a while, and couldn't get it out. I think that I may have been missing the tree for the forest. The walls are a very warm tone of yellowish white, and I think that's effecting the fill flash you're using. It would be especially apparent if you're using a bounce card or omni bounce diffuser. While I'm not a D2H owner, I have seen a lot of files from it. It seems to grab onto primary colours and really pump them up, which why you get such strong reds in the skin tones. If there was some extra yellow-ish light in the image, that would effect it.
One of the things that I'm waiting for from Nikon before I buy, is a firmware upgrade. Not only do they need to address the noise reduction, but they also need to fix the camera colour profile. Several of the colour problems I've seen with the D2H are similar to situations I've had shooting colour slide film, especially Fuji Velvia. I think when Nikon built the camera, they took one of the most popular slide films on the market, and copied the look. This would explain why guys who shoot wildlife and scenics are having such a good time with it. If Nikon could make a colour profile based on Fujicolor NPC, or something similar, and add it to the other three colour spaces that come loaded with the camera, then I think they would have it licked. The alternative, and I think what's probably going to be case, is to either build your own custom colour profile, or get someone to provide a third party profile that can be used to correct the colour problems.
