Kodiak Bear Photography in September

Dear friends,

I would like to go to Kodiak (AK) for Kodiak Bear photography.
Does anybody knows a good place / outfitter / lodge does provide
good photography opportunities. I'm planning to go second week of September 2010.
Are there any experiences with "Rohrer Bear Camp" / "Sam's Alaskan Adventures" ?
Many thanks for any suggestions.

Best wishes,
Claudia

Re: Kodiak Bear Photography in September

Hi Claudia,

I hope this isn't too late, but I would forget Kodiak. The photography is a sidelight to bear hunting and fishing. Go to Katmai Natl Park on the Alaska Peninsula. I highly recommend Katmai Coastal Bear Tours Alaska Brown Bear Viewing in Katmai National Park. Photography and wildlife tours on the wild coast of Katmai National Park I have been there three times and got great images every time.

Tom

Re: Kodiak Bear Photography in September

Dear Tom,
many thanks for your reply.
Yes, I know Katmai N.P. I have been there two times as well.
I was looking for Kodiak because the Bears should be bigger there and I wanted to go to another place.
Unfortunately till today I was not able to find the "right" place for photography at Kodiak. As you said most of the "Tours" there are either for hunting or for fishing.
So I changed my planes for this year .. maybe in the future I will find some "good" operator for what I want.
Again, many thanks for your message and wish you a great Easter!
Bye and best regards from snowy Switzerland,
Claudia
