Katmai Wilderness Lodge

Dear Friends,

is there anybody here that has spent some days in this Lodge in Katmai N.P. / Alaska ?

I go by end of June (20-27) and my main goal will be Bear Photography.
On the website of this Lodge is a statement that "Bears are guaranteed" - but - just wanted to be sure if at this time (end June) it's a good time .... - would be great if someone can share their experiences about this place.

Thanks !
Claudia

I have not shot there but at McNeil....the time of the year is relevant to the salmon spawning....TYPICALLY, that is a great time of the year...but, like last year the salmon were about 2-3 weeks behind schedule.

No, I have not...but, interestingly enough..I was talking to a gal in Anchorage yesterday that I have known for years but did not know what she did for a living. She gives custom tours of the polar area; with an emphasis on Polar bear sightings in Alaska and Russia. It seems to run about US$4000+ for a week per person. If you are interested I could get her phone number for you.

Hi Robert,

many thanks again for your reply.

For this year I have set up our photographic tour but if you can, you can give me her email address. So maybe for the next time I can take a look at what she offers.

As I'm always looking for good photo opportunities in Alaska as well as in Canada, did you know other great places to photograph Moose ? (you can send me a privat message to reply).

Thanks again and have a great day.
Claudia
