Hi,
I have recently returned from a family trip to Europe including a voyage on the coastal steamer down the coast of Norway. Absolutely stunning scenery. It was difficult to decide what gear to take, but in the end I decided that I should just take the 5D + 24-105 and if it got lost, damaged or stolen, that's what Insurance is for.
I armed the rest of the family with P&S cameras (Panosonic FX01) during our stopover in Hong Kong. We had one laptop with us, and all photos were uploaded to that, and a backup DVD was posted home every 4.5Gb. Thankfully no ill became of the laptop, and the backup disks arrived home safely as well.
We loved Norway above the arctic circle, and will be back. There is a lot to see and do up there in the far north, and the place has a real 'frontier' feel to it. Here is a photo I took of one of the sunsets from the ship, it was taken at ISO 3200.
Mike.
