Is the Mamiya ZD good enough to shoot food?

I'm needing to know if the ZD has enough quality to shoot food shots that will need to be about 20"x30" on a POP display. The client is a restaurant that has been using a Dallas food studio, but wants to shoot locally. Until now, the shots were done on a Phase One P25 back, but I'm not sure of the camera system.
Are the Mamiya lenses up to the task? Is the bit depth going to be limiting?
Do you guys think that the ZD can pull it off? If it will, I might buy one. If not, I'll rent a Phase One back, as the client is willing to pay for the rental.
Any thoughts are greately appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Mark S.

overall, ive heard the zd impession were that it was only ok..not much edge over a FF dslr, the p25 is much better, thats what i have, i have it on a 645afd2 and the lenses are great. rent the p25+ or P45+ if you can.

Re: Is the Mamiya ZD good enough to shoot food?

Michael, I just got a link to the Luminous Lancscape review, and they have a comparison between Phase One and the ZD at long exposures. Boy is that eye opening http://www.luminous-landscape.com/fo...e=post&id=3217
I think you're right, I'll rent a Phase One!

Thanks, Mark S.

Re: Is the Mamiya ZD good enough to shoot food?

Maybe, for architectural work, but probably not for this food shot. My current focus(pun intended) is a P25+. It allows the use of view camera bodies. I'm just trying to figure out how to pay for one!

Re: Is the Mamiya ZD good enough to shoot food?

yeah the zd might have microlenses or something that prohibits good images with view cameras. ive got my p25 on a 4x5 and thats a nice combo, rent a p1 flex adaptor too, i'm happy with mine.
