| | | Which Digitalback to choose? Hi there, my first post ;-)
I know i can use the search function but i want to know answers of my questions :-D
Which were as follow :
I am currently in a desicsion process of finding the most fitting digital back for me... i am shooting what ever occurs in front of my lens (portrait, fashion, advertisment, sports, landscape and so on) i know that for sports i will stay on my d2x but for the rest i want a digital back, mainly because of the 16bit color...
i took a look on the ZD Back, 12bit and only fitting Mamiya... but i could buy that and upgrade a phase one i a few years... how are the lenses of mamiya???
then i moved on to Leaf... but the local dealer... well ;-) i need good support...
the next thing was phase one.. expensive but i think trustworthy, good local support and for 3000€ three years warranty and one day exchange offer...
and then a buddy told me that a dealer in germany offers to take his whole set of dslr and lenses and exchange them for a H3D2 with a 22MP imacon back... well... there was my mailclient sending the email to this dealer ;-)
Now to my questions...
Has anyone expierience with more then one back? I think the picturequality is equal on most of the backs (phase one, leaf and hassy) but the integration is different...
i own a contax 645 set and i think the phase one and leaf would fit quite well... but! contax 645 is dead, what doesn´t make it nonfunction but no new lenses and so on... you know the deal...
has anyone a h2d or h3d with a imacon back? how are your expirience?
has anyone a contax 645 with a phase one or leaf back? tell me how it works! :-)
I just entered this forum coz i think its the most professional on the net without flaming and so on :-D
have a nice day and thanks in advance for your effort :-)
best regards from austria
robert

I am still not quite sure but i tend to get a phase one back, but i am not sure about which to get, i have an offer for a refurbished P25 and P45...
I think i will stay with my contax, i love that camera and the built in flash meter is great, working with it analog is a pleasure and digital will be also great :-)
now i have to plan my financial disaster ;-) hehe

| | | Re: Which Digitalback to choose? I have been very pleased with the Imacon system I use on my Hassy 500 c/m. I have an older 132c back. It is a true work horse. Probably about 20,000 plus images. The Flexcolor software for Imacon is rock solid and free. I can move the back from the Hassy to a sliding back on a 4x5 for swing and tilt shooting and can use live video. The live video clinched it for me, as my clients can see the image as well as their comp overlayed on the screen. On location, shooting to the external drive is not an issue. Imacon does have newer backs that take cards, but as we say in Texas, If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
Phase One may now have some of these features...
Phase one seems to have left our area, but the sales calls from NY still continue. I tried the phase one system and the software and tethered shooting did not work for me. I am not trying to start a flame war. Just a happy Imacon customer.

| | | Re: Which Digitalback to choose? I am looking at a P25 back for a contax645 that has an attractive price, but it has 115,000 actuations. This seems like an excessive number of actuations, but I have been told by some that this is not important. What are your feelings on this matter?
