microsoft word act odd on your mac?

does microsoft word act odd on your mac? opening the software via opening a word doc causes it to unexpectantly quit atleast half of the time. it has been this way since day one on my mac G4 quad power pc tower. i tried reinstalling it with no avail. almost all the time i cant have 2 word docs open at the same time as it causes it to crash. word was purchased as the office bundle and powerpoint and excel do not have this problem, everything appears to work normally.

Have you continuously and/or fully updated both the Apple OS and the Word software? That's most likely where the problem lies.

Microsoft operates a support forum for Word for the Mac.

If you don’t need any specific features of Word, you might want to look at Apple’s Pages. I’ve been favoring it for most tasks for a couple years, now, and I’m delighted with the new Pages ‘09 release. I do still have to load up Word every now and then to use its ability to search and replace based on formatting cues, but that’s about it.

OS is up to date. word updates never pop up in software update. runs fine on my G4 laptop, same word, same OS.

i am running office X, any idea of how old that is.
