New MacBooks October 14th

Apple has announced a special "notebook" event on October 14th. It is expected that they will introduce the new line of MacBooks with upgraded processors, solid block technology aluminum cases, LED screens and Nvidia video cards (as opposed to the former intel integrated video processor) that will support CS4.

Sounds like a dynamite computer. I love this day and age of leaps and bounds improvements in technology.

I have an upcoming need for a low power system that will be used in a solar-powered mobile office, yet be able to do power editing with a lot of monitor space (e.g., a 30"er or two 20"ers). I wonder if this new MacBook will be it?

I noticed though that the New 13" & 15" only offer the Glossy Display.....No Matte or Anti-Glare Display......what's up with that?.....

This is a major point of contention with graphic design professionals and photographers. Another change is the mini display port technology which is not the same as mini divi and takes yet another adapter to connect to a DVI or VGA display.

The new 24" Apple Cinema Display is mini display port only which is not compatible with any other technology.

The 17" MacBook Pro only went through some minor changes and is still available for purchase with matte screen as are the 20", 23" and 30" Apple Cinema Displays.

I'm glad I bought my 15" matte screen MacBook Pro earlier this year.

Looks like a "not yet ready for prime time player". Read some of the horror stories trying to use the adapter for the 30" Apple Cinema Display:
