Imported folders with "Insufficient access privileges"

I am slowly getting use to my Mac Pro but I have a few niggling issues. I had difficulty deleting or trashing my picture files in Media Expression as well as creating sub folders.

I think part of the answers is the folders I copied from my network drive somehow did not have full read write properties. I am able to overcome the problem by slowly going through each directory and select "get Info" they were read only "get Info" and then unlock the files by selecting read/write option.

This procedure is taking too long. Does anyone here know a quicker way to do this.
