MacBook with Shiny Screen?

Has anyone purchased a MacBook with the shiny "high-contrast" screen? Has the reflectivity of the screen outweighed the benefits of its slightly higher contrast? I am considering a MacBook Pro and am wobbling on this feature.

Oops. I guess I can't blame the typos on the shiny screen. DR

I have one and it's the only thing I don't like. I can see my reflection in it all the time and find color harder to judge. Too bad they can't be ordered without. It's a great laptop, unbelievably fast and run windows very well for when you want to downgrade your experience

I have one and I would NOT order your Pro with the shiny screen! Its fine for web surfing and stuff but for photo work where you want less contrast and more tone it is terrible. The other negative is you need to look at the screen DEAD on in order for things not to look dark. And they're already dark because of the increased contrast.

The reflections are annoying as well...

Re: MacBook with Shiny Screen?

Thanks very much for your responses. Your experiences largely confirm what I observed. I spent some time with a shiny screen in an Apple store. It looked rather snappy but the soft, omnidirectional nature of the lighting largely concealed the reflectivity problems that I know I'd have under many circumstances.

KT, don't know whether you've made your final decision or not but I thought about your post when I read THIS thread on Ars Technica.

But, keep in mind, the responders aren't necessarily photo enthusiasts...but they are Mac 'geeks' with strong opinions.
