Real weird, on rebooting, the keyboard only gives numbers!!

So I'm going to go over the usual disk utility stuff and report back.

I have just noticed a very similar problem as of last night. Finally, last night my screen when black and had to reboot several times. Then would not boot. Finally had to run Disk Warrior and correct permissions.

Still, after that, same keyboard issues yhn6yh as follows...

I do use Expose'5tgqaz11qaz, but not in this case. There, it just happen1qazed. keybo1qaz1qaza., keyboard starts typing numbers instead of letters, and all windows resize as if in Expose, and my Number lock key lights up, and then goes off.

I definitely suspect a virus.

On Titanium G4 - 867mhz OS10.4.3

Oops, forgot to mention, I do not hear "Say Something" - otherwise similar symptoms...

Need advise on best place to scan for virus.

I've now run two virus scans on the entire machine and did not find an identifiable suspect, that required cleaning up or quaranteen.

I'm wondering if this isn't strictly a hardware issue with the keyboard, as my machine heats up. I'm not having this issue right now - my machine is no longer speaking in tongues - having just awaken the machine this morning.

I'd love to hear how Asher is making out.

Virusses for MacOS X do not exist, and although it's always possible you are the first person in this world who found one, it's extremely unlikely. I think your system is somehow screwed up badly. Instead of doing an idle search for virusses, I suggest you do a clean install of your system software.

By the way: scanning for virusses is useless anyway, even if you did find the first MacOS X virus. Because it would be new, there is no virus scanner that will recognize it...

I simply put the machine away! I may smash it with a hammer or perhaps take it the the LA Mac stores and ask at the Genius Bar.

BTW, virus scanning software can isolate new virus if they follow a pattern virex or Techtool can recognize.

To my guess, there is something mechanical or metaphysical. However, if more reports occur, then i might think differently.
