What's happening is that over a period of time, which has shortened to 1-1.5 hours at present from cold power-on, the fan ramps up in speed. Once up, it never goes down until powered off If the system is put to 'sleep', when awoken the fan will ramp up from quiet to a very high speed in 10 minutes or so.
It does sound like a temperature build-up. I attacked the vents, the filter around the fan, the CPU heat sink and everything else that looked suspect with a high-powered vacuum cleaner. It may be a tad better, but I wouldn't swear to it.
I guess I'll transfer everything important to an external HD and take it over to the Apple store next week. They'll probably say it's normal! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
Any other ideas, hidden passages for dust to clog, etc. I'm all ears. White Balance so easy, even our 5 year old can do it.- Melissa Strickland |
