iBook won\'t start up

Anybody have any suggestions -- or have experience with this problem -- for a 14-inch iBook G3/900 that refuses to start up. Battery is charged, AC adapter has been tried, key combinations recommended by Apple have been pressed . . . all to no avail. No sound, no screen, nothing.

Apple service is closed today and my daughter at college has a major paper due tomorrow (much of which is sitting in the iBook).

I'll pass along any ideas/suggestions.

Thanks.

This article from Apple's Knowledge Base may be of some help. You'll need to scroll to the bottom of the page to see your daughter's model. You can search Apple's Knowledge Base here. You might also want to post your request for help on the Apple iBook forums here. You'll probably need to register to post on the Apple Forums. Good luck.

Re: iBook won\'t start up

As suggested, resetting the power management unit (PMU) should rectify the situation, although in the process you lose a lot of settings (time, date etc) that can be a bit of a pain. Try removing the battery entirely for one minute, then replace the battery and hit the power on button. This often works for my powerbook if it is locked and will not wake/boot, but does not lose the date/time settings as happens with a PMU reset.

As it is the morning of 12/8 as I type this, I hope you got it worked out already
