G3 500Mhz Powerbook Battery

Does anyone know the procedure regarding the reconditioning/refreshing of a rechargable G3 PB battery? I'm curently only getting about a hour and 30 minutes out of mines at the mo. Any usuable advice would be gratefully accepted. JC

Re: G3 500Mhz Powerbook Battery

Aren't digital tools a pain?
I never had these problems with F3s and Hasselblads. Oh well.

My gut feeling is that you need a new battery.
Rechargeable batteries seem to have about a two year life span.

My Nikon D1x batteries, my cell phone batteries and my AA NiMH batteries seem to
lose their ability to hold a charge after awhile.

Refreshing a rechargeable battery by draining down all the current can prolong its life,
but I doubt it will totally restore an old battery to its original condition.

Can you run your laptop on AC power?

Re: G3 500Mhz Powerbook Battery

Same problem here. My PB G3 500Mhz cannot be on batteries more than an hour. I'm suspecting that as I've mainly used this computer plugged in into the AC, the battery never had the chance to fully "stretch". As a preventive mesure, I now unplug my G4 12" as soon as the battery as reached its full capacity until it drains and then back to AC again. Best. P.
