Apple Online Store Experiences

Hello,

Just out of curiosity I would be interested to know about your experiences with Apple Online Store ( Europe ).

I ordered a PB 15" ( 1.25 model with a bit more ram, etc) at the end of October and was told it would take bout 10 days before it would be with me. I would occasionally have a look at the Apple web order status page to see the progress. After about 15 days I gave them a call and they said it was ready and would ship any time. 2 days later I get an email saying there's a supply constraint and there will be a week of delay. After a week, another email telling me it's ready and will ship. Another few days and and a new email telling me about a supply constraint( again..). I gave them a call and explained the numerous ( and confusing emails) I got from them and 'gently' inquired if there was some hope of receiving this PB [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img].
The day after the telephone inquiry, the web status order page tells me it's been fully shipped. 8 days later and I'm still dreaming of having a PB one day...

Please tell me it's not like this every time you order something from them??

The delay is most likely caused by Apple trying to resolve the white spots on the screen problem...as some (many) have had that problem.

I've never had any problems with them, but then again I haven't bought anything remotely approaching the value of a laptop either! [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]

I'm not a European customer, but I did purchase a 17" Powerbook last week. It was shipped from Taiwan and arrived at my home 5 days after I placed the order. That's pretty fast considering it was Thanksgiving weekend here in the US. Without the holiday, I think I'd have gotten it in 3 or 4 days.

There are delays on the 15" Powerbook due to screen problems and having to fill backorders/replacement orders. At one point Apple stopped shipping the 15" powerbooks for about 10 days. This information is from the support forums at apple, not an official announcement so take it with a grain of salt.

As for my Powerbook, I couldn't be more pleased with it!

I finally got my PB yesterday. Fantastic machine and worth the wait. I didn't know about the screen problems.
