Re: Panther Problem

RFnikon, I'm not sure you have a panther problem. I experience a similar problem in 10.2.6, but only with compact flash cards. The problem just started a few weeks ago. I put my lexar 1G 32x cf card in a firewire 400 card reader, icon shows up fine, folders open fine, but when I try to copy the contents to my desktop, the process begins, then stops almost immediately, and the warning window appears, saying I've disconnected improperly, etc. So I have to use my laptop (also 10.2.6) for downloads and transfer by network to my desktop (dual G4 1.25). I'm mystified, as everything worked fine for months, and I've made no changes to the OS recently. I have installed some new software, but on both computers. No problem on the laptop, though. I havent seen the problem with my external FW 800 drive on the desktop yet, but ive only had the drive a few days now. I'm wondering if something has gone bad with the firewire 400 port (hardware). Doesn't seem likely, though.
