Where oh where is OS 9.2?

The terminology gets a little muddy. OS X includes the "Classic Environment" which is the interface mechanism between OS 9 and X but the Classic Environment is not the same thing as OS 9 and it still requires an OS 9 install.

Unless I'm mistaken, the retail versions of OS X do not include OS 9. The documentation in my retail 10.3 makes no mention of it including OS 9. It does, however, say something to the effect that if you want to use OS 9 programs, you must install OS 9.1 or newer and to use the disks that came with your system--not the 10.3 disks.

Not happy about OS 9 getting dropped. I was able to drag OS 9 from another system to get it on a new system.

I just had this problem yesterday as well, I had to load OS9 to a external hard drive, boot from that drive and then install OS9 on the computer. Works fine now.

I'm still using 9.2.2 an have resisted going to X because of all the problems I'm reading about. X sounds like a PC OS system problems

There are not that many problems with OS X, especially with Panther, and any problems there might be are largely compensated by the advantages of X. Like any new OS it requires time to get used to it, but once your familiar with X, you will not want to go back. I ditched OS 9 from my computer, it's not even there to run as classic, been using it full time for a year and never looked back.
