Re: FireWire 2 GO

I have actually seen that complaint on many of the Mac forums.Unfortunately nobody has found a fix yet. You may want to take a look at www.macfixit.com forums and www.macnn.com forums. Since NewerTech went out of business I doubt there will be a software fix for it unless an Apple update solves the problem and I wouldn't bet on that.

FireWire 2 GO

I have a Newer Technology FireWire 2 Go card in my PB G3. Problem is, if I do not eject it before putting the book to sleep, it crashes upon wake up. Any ideas?

The card and my devices all work fine (burner, MiniDV cam, D1) otherwise.

Thanks,

John

ps. I'm running OS 9

Re: FireWire 2 GO

very simple DONT LET YOUR POWER BOOK SLEEP, I had the same problem 2 years ago and found that it was not a good idea to just let it stay in there if your not useing it

Re: FireWire 2 GO

I own a Firewire2Go card and use it on my PowerBook G3 WallStreet II but I'm getting really slow throughput with the card. I'm running MacOS9.1 is there something I'm missing? I have the latest Firewire extensions by Apple and again while the card does work it's very slow. Impossible to capture dv on it.

Also the proceedure for me to use the card is:
1. Insert Firewire2Go card
2. Restart the PB
3. Firewire HD off at least 5 seconds, then turn on
4. Plug Firewire HD into Firewire2Go card

Otherwise the HD doesn't mount. I'm using the Maxtor 80GB external FWHD.
